Cayuga-The Cayuga is a medium-sized, heavy breed, the mature Cayuga averages 7-8 lbs. Cayuga ducks can lay 100-150 large eggs per year. They tolerate the harsh winters of the northeast but need access to shade in hot weather. They are not good fliers. They are a quiet breed that is good for urban/suburban settings.

Anocona-The Ancona averages 6-6.5 pounds and is a bit stockier than its close relative, the Magpie duck. Varieties include Black and White, Blue and White, Chocolate and White, Silver and White, Lavender and White, Lilac and white, and Tricolored. The Ancona is a hardy, adaptable, all-purpose duck. They are excellent layers, typically laying 210-280 white, cream, or blue eggs annually. Ancona is not recognized by the American Poultry Association.

These will become lights depending on the season they start at a black/dark gray and will eventually become a light gray near the end of the laying season. They do not lay many eggs in a year though.

Ringneck Pheasants-The common pheasant adults weigh 2-3lbs.

Bonding

Bonding of fixed rabbits generally works best, studies have shown a neutered male and a spayed female have the best chances of bonding.

Showing

Show quality Holland Lops are those free from disqualifications. The ideal body type for a Holland lop is short, massive and thick set. The chest should be broad and the shoulders short with their depth nearly equal to width. A small dewlap is permitted. The ears should be thick, and well rounded at the tips and hang close to the cheeks.

Poultry Care

An important thing to note is different types of poultry have different needs. All young poultry need to be kept in a brooder with a heat source normally a heat lamp. It is best not to keep chicks with waterfowl, as waterfowl require unmedicated food and are a lot messier than chicks. Although they love the water domestic waterfowl are different from their wild counterparts and should not be placed in water till older as they can become waterlogged get cold, and even drown.

Rabbit Care

Rabbits should always have hay and clean water available at all times. Hay is the largest part of a rabbits diet, hay is high in fiber so its need to ensure the rabbit has a healthy digestive tract it its also important for their dental health. Rabbits should never be bathed, getting a rabbit wet as they may panic have a heart attack, or injury themselves . They could also catch a chill and suffer from pneumonia, respiratory infections, hypothermia, and other life threatening conditions.

Terminology

Vienna-marked (VM)- the vienna gene causes rabbits to express markings such as violet or blue eyes and white spots or dutch-like markings. Rabbits can also appear normal , but have vienna marked offspring those are considered vienna carriers. VM rabbits are not showable, but VC rabbits can be. White- Ear (WE)-a gene which causes a rabbit to have white ears, a few colored spots are not uncommon, but they should ideally be completely white. The WE gene almost always causes white facial markings, undersides, and a few other random markings similar to the Vienna gene. WE rabbits are not showable. Straight Run-not be sexed to determine gender

I got our bunny from Pine Acres Poultry and Rabbit Farm. She was an adult when I got her and she is not spayed, yet has a great temperament. They sent me pictures of her when she was young. She is so sweet and doing pretty well with litter box training. I love her so much! I named her Coconut because she looks like a coconut and that’s the name I thought of while we on vacation in Mexico. I would highly recommend Pine Acres Poultry and Rabbit Farm. They also send home pellets, hay, and helpful information along with pedigree papers. I would purchase more if I lived on a farm. Thank you Pine Acres! Enjoy a few pictures of our beautiful Coconut!

Very knowledgeable Breeders. We just got our first bunny and they explained everything we needed to know. Answered all of our questions right away. We couldn’t be happier with our bunny. He seems very happy and healthy. They started litter box training before we got him and after just a couple days he is doing amazing with it. Highly recommend Pine Acres!

I have gotten all my ducklings from here. Always good breeding and friendly people to work with. Recently the lady helped me with getting one of my Ancona ducks some ducklings since she didn’t have a good brooding season. Not only is this a wonderful place to purchase poultry from but they will also help with any issues they can while getting your new friends home and settled. I now have a happy Ancona with 3 beautiful ducklings that she accepted and love having. Thanks Pine Acres for all the help and amazing ducks we have gotten from you!!

I got my first 2 Anconas a 2 months ago and just went back for more! Their ducks are very well cared for and well bred. They were clean, for ducks, beautiful and healthy! Not only do they have wonderful animals but also great customer service. I'm still fairly new to ducks and had a lot of questions which were answered kindly and knowledgeably. They are the first place I go to for my ducks!

What do your Holland Lops come with?

Our Holland Lops babies generally leave us when 8 weeks old. They come with their pedigree, transition food, hay, care sheet, first aid kit recommendations, started on litter box training, and time providing a customized document sleeve.

Why Holland Lops?

Holland lops are the smallest of the lop ear buns, adults will be about   3-4 pounds. They are known to be gentle and loving. They are also very smart and can be trained to to use the litter box and do tricks.
